Message from the VMC Medical Spokesperson
Dr Joe

Hello there!

Smoking has been in gradual decline in Australia over the last 30 years. The health problems related to smoking are well known, yet sadly, some young people continue to take up the habit. National Youth Tobacco Free day aims to have our future tobacco free by focusing on the next generation. Read on to find out more and check out the website for tips on how to quit smoking or help your friends quit.

I would like to share some fantastic news with you. Last week Virtual Medical Centre was announced winner of the online category for the WA Information Technology and Telecommunications Awards. This is an achievement we are all proud of. We welcome all your feedback on continuing to improve the site.

Kids Good Health Recipe

BREAKFAST BURRITOS

delicious!

Serves 4

4 eggs, lightly beaten
1/4 cup Australian reduced-fat milk
1/4 cup frozen corn kernels, thawed
2 tablespoons, finely diced red capsicum
2 tablespoons, finely diced green capsicum
white pepper, to taste
100g baby button mushrooms, quartered
4 flour tortillas, warmed
2 medium tomatoes, sliced
1/4 cup Australian reduced-fat cheddar cheese grated

Method

1. Whisk eggs, milk, corn, capsicum and pepper together. Pour one quarter of the egg mixture into a small pre-heated non-stick frypan to just cover the base. Cook over medium heat until eggs are almost set. Turn over and cook for a further 15 seconds. Repeat with remaining mixture to make 4 omelettes.

2. Cook mushrooms in the same frypan until golden.

3. Top each tortilla with a cooked omelette, sliced tomato, mushrooms and cheese. Fold the edge closest to you over one third of the filling and then fold in the sides of the tortilla to form a burrito.
